Request to Officials

The following happened one year in the lead-up to the great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il’s birthday in February.

Officials were concerned about preparing a birthday party for him, for they all knew that he would not allow them to do so.

Somehow Kim Jong Il knew it, and called the officials concerned to his office, saying resolutely that they should not do so.

Several days later, while discussing work with them, he told them that he had celebrated his birthday.

The officials were surprised as they knew that on that day he had a meal prepared by a hostel. 

They were sorry to learn that he had turned down their sincerity but had the meal from the hostel.

One year previously, concerned about the foods for people living in a hostel, he had tried their foods, and requested the officials to enhance their sense of responsibility and role. 

Now Kim Jong Il said to them earnestly:

People call ours a motherly party. The Workers’ Party of Korea officials should play the role of a genuine mother of the masses to live up to their expectation. They should take care of the people in their living like the mothers who are concerned about the quality of foods for their children.

His earnest request was very valuable instructions they, as servants of the people, should always remember and implement in practice.
